Where I started...
I often get, "How did you get into photography?". Well I fell into it. I was an art history major at first. But then family asked where is the money in that. The I decided on English Lit. I loved to read and everyone said I should become a teacher.
Well the first class in lit proved fatal to that goal. The prof gave everyone a D or below on the first paper.
My elective that year was photography. My mom said she had enjoyed when she was in college. The photo tech, Jack, said I should apply for an internship at the local paper and I laughed. I spent all semester photographing windmills and cemeteries. And the rest, as they say, is history.
So I am mostly self taught, although I have had some excellent teachers along the way.
Speaking of cemteries, a friend and I were in Lockeford one day and I took her to the Harmony Grove Church and Cemetery. It has some old headstones and is peaceful. Here are some of the out takes.

Photo Master Jen Howell
I stumbled on a blog today that has some of the best photography I've ever seen. It's called New Vintage Photography. Is there anything this woman (Jen Howell) cannot photo perfectly? Take a look at her blog here. She also has a website with a gallery of her work located here. Website is mostly childrens portraits. For more variety I suggest her blog. I chose a few that I liked to give you a teaser. I couldn't make myself click out of her blog. If I had a child, she'd be my photographer for sure!

Fairytale Towne
I had to get out town Saturday, so we loaded up the kids and took them to William Land Park's Fairytale Towne and Funderland.

Poor Sweet Thing!
I have taken two days off work this week because my baby has been sick. Yesterday she had a temp of 103.3. It's moments like that that test you as a mother. Not to mention the two hours of sleep I got. It's not like Maddie to nap, but she took two yesterday. She is doing much better with three doses of anti-biotics.
Maddie during an afternoon nap, her immune system fighting off the germs.

Lights out!
Man o man! You don't realize how spoiled you are until you try to flick on the light and there is nothing. When your remote control won't turn on your TV. When you can't connect to the world wide web. (GASP!) How did people survive with candles and no take out! :)
Friday night with the high winds and rain, we were among three areas without power. Ours finally came on about 11 p.m. Thank you to the men and women that had to work out there in the weather.
The next day, the rain continued but in the afternoon, rays of sunshine came streaming through. There was a double rainbow and one was the most beautiful thing I had seen in a lot of years.
